A statement for our oceans
A statement for our oceans
In a world in which the global ecosystem has become unbalanced, it takes courage to devotedly stand up for the environment and future generations. This is precisely what we are doing: our new Planctons eyewear collection aims to set an example, in order to halt the increasing plastic pollution in the world’s oceans.
The seas are drowning in plastic waste. We need to stop turning a blind eye, which is why we are using worthless single-use plastic to produce beautiful, sustainable eyewear made from 100% ocean plastic. The name Planctons represents the basis for biodiversity in the world’s oceans. Plankton is the name for the collection of organisms that live in open water and are propelled by its currents. Without plankton, nothing can live in the oceans and without plastic, an increased number of healthier species could live in the water.
A special kind of recycling – Swiss eyewear made from 100% ocean plastic
Our project aims to help the ancient, natural cycle of marine ecology regain its equilibrium. Every pair of Planctons glasses is made from 100% ocean plastic and not only looks good, but is also good for the planet. The Basel start-up Tide Ocean collects the plastic used for our eyewear from the ocean and on various beaches in Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines, where it’s processed into granulate. People who opt for a pair of Planctons glasses are therefore helping to rid the oceans of plastic waste.
