From Waste to Eyewear
From Waste to Eyewear
Recycling is no longer a niche issue. From packaging to electronic products, the demand for closed material loops is becoming increasingly evident. The circular economy aims to keep resources in circulation, minimise waste and reduce environmental impact over the long term. This is exactly where planctons comes in, making recycling a core part of the brand—specifically in an area where too little is still being done: plastic waste floating in the oceans of Southeast Asia.
Recycling Without Compromise
Every pair of planctons glasses is made from recycled ocean plastic collected from the waters of Southeast Asia in collaboration with Tide Ocean. The plastic waste is processed into granulate before being designed and transformed into high-quality eyewear frames in Lungern, in the heart of Central Switzerland. The sophisticated production processes behind planctons glasses demonstrate that circularity can be put into practice in everyday life.
Glacier Names for a New Era
The fact that planctons models are named after glaciers is no coincidence—it is part of the concept. Glaciers themselves belong to a vast natural cycle: they grow, melt and change. planctons brings this same principle to life through its eyewear. Plastic that was no longer wanted is transformed into something new—something to be admired, worn and used for years to come.
The planctons brand and the people who wear its glasses embrace this philosophy on both a small and a larger scale. Every pair is proof that recycling is not only possible, but can also be stylish—and that everyone can do something, however small, to help reduce the amount of plastic in our oceans.
